Until a few years ago, the possibility that there could be this kind of soccer-related frenzy anywhere north of Mexico in any context, much less the night before a regular season Major League Soccer match, seemed ludicrous, about as likely as Parisians going crazy for Nascar or a figure-skating riot in Boston.

I simply cannot see the Twin Cities ever reaching this level of enthusiasm for MLS, but I hope I am wrong. Rumblings that the Wilfs will seek a franchise for their new playground, and I’d definitely be on board.
